The village of Bronxville, incorporated in 1898, is considered one of the nation's first "planned" communities. The vibrant downtown features a variety of specialty shops, markets, banks, restaurants, a tri-plex movie theatre, medical offices and a hospital. One-half of the 2,400 residences are single-family dwellings ranging from townhouses to large mansions; the remainder are in charming apartment buildings.
